WE Social

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
– Mahatma Gandhi

Stocks, bonds, IRAs and taxes. All are important and necessary, but we believe there should be a higher purpose. Improving the lives of others is part of our greater purpose. The WealthEngage team is dedicated to helping clients because we find it personally rewarding to do so. We also devote personal time to worthy causes, sometimes as volunteers to help raise funds for a specific purpose, while also serving as leaders on nonprofit boards. Here we will keep you informed as to the successes we have had helping our community, as well as important news about the WealthEngage family. Please enjoy and feel free to share what you are doing to give back.

A not so Slow Summer

The third quarter of the year is dominated by summer, which means vacations! As a result, it is probably the slowest time of year for events and charitable activities.  Still, your WealthEngage team had plenty to do.  During the dog days of July, we had a fun day of playing hooky at the Clevelander in Marlins Park, and Eddy Augsten moderated a panel of leaders in the private equity and family office sectors about crypto currencies and Blockchain technology and a panel for the Florida International Bankers Association on ESG and Impact Investing.  We held fun team dinner at my home where we paired several wines with Italian food, and we hosted a special World Cup watch party for the Spain vs. Portugal match.  Finally, we celebrated WealthEngage’s 1st anniversary by inviting our clients and friends to enjoy wine and tapas at our office. Here are pictures form these events:

The fourth quarter promises to be a busy one as the team is already committed to the following:

  1. Thanksgiving food drive to support needy families through the Knights of Columbus (Coral Gables chapter). We will collect non-perishable items at our office until November 14th.
  2. We are participating in the Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge in October. Priscila Carney and Eddy Augsten give their time to Junior Achievement which is a wonderful organization whose mission is to improve financial literacy.
  3. Eddy and Gus will attend the Archdiocese of Miami’s Diamond Anniversary Gala, celebrating 60 years in Miami.
  4. The team will spend an afternoon helping the Children’s Cancer Fund to set up for their annual Christmas party which they host on December 1st. This organization has partners with Miami Jackson Hospital to provide these kids with a day of fun and magic.

Please let us know if you would like to get involved in any of the above causes.

World Cup Kick-off with Friends!

We had an absolute blast kicking off the World Cup at Xixon in Coral Gables where we watched Spain tie Portugal. We co-sponsored the event with Estrella Galicia and partnered with Alumni from IE Business School (Madrid) and ESADE Business School (Barcelona). Summer Team Dinner

After all the hard work this year we finally made some time to sit down as a team and bring the spouses together for a night of wine and Italian pairings. Followed by a game of Taboo which really tested our mind reading capabilities.

L.I.V.E.

L.I.V.E. (Lead Innovate Volunteer Empower) that puts together a couple of event per year benefitting local causes. This year, our efforts benefited Live Like Bella and Sebastian Strong, two local charities that raise funds to cure pediatric cancer and help families that are battling this disease. We participated in both the Golf Classic and the Bet on the Future party!

Take me out to the ball game…

Every year we join friends and family for opening day at the Marlins. Ian Happ of the Chicago Cubs homered on Jose Urena's very first pitch of the season, but we had fun anyway!

Office Warming

Being neighborly, we decided to open our doors to our new office building. Our neighbors enjoyed an afternoon of networking, cocktails and small bites with us. We had a great turnout!

Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge

Throughout the year WealthEngage supports Junior Achievement in many ways. We believe in expanding financial literacy and supporting our local students and teachers. Junior Achievement impacts over 33,000 students a year in Miami Dade. They provide volunteer delivered programs focused on financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. Each year we also participate in the Stock Market Challenge. We teach high school students how the stock market works, then students are invited to the Akerman offices in Brickell where they spend the morning in a simulated stock market trading floor fake stock and $1,000,000 paper portfolio! Too much fun.
